Police in Germany are allegedly on high alert after the prime suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann reportedly tried to buy an untraceable mobile phone.
Christian Brueckner, 49, has sparked fears of escape as it was also said he was carrying an ID card on him at the time - which could permit him to flee Germany.
It has been claimed Brueckner asked shop staff in Germany to sell him an anonymous device without officially recording his government identity, which is a legal requirement in the country.
This comes after Brueckner's release from prison on September 17, with the sex offender since spotted at numerous locations in a new German town.
