Muertos Fest organizers will announce details about a new opening night tribute for the 13th annual event.

A press conference is scheduled at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at The Porch in Civic Park at Hemisfair, 630 E. Nueva St., according to a news release.

This year’s festival is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25 and Sunday, Oct. 26. The opening night tribute will take place on Friday, Oct. 24, the release said.

Local officials, including Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones, are expected to be in attendance, the release stated.

Muertos Fest is the largest Day of the Dead festival in the U.S., according to the release.
