LOS ANGELES — Your favorite scientist from childhood now has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
, 69, received a star in the television category on Monday, Sept. 22.
“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome Bill Nye to the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” said Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame producer, in a statement. “His star is a tribute to his dedication in making science accessible and entertaining for all ages through his iconic educational show.”
Nye rose to fame as Bill Nye the Science Guy in the late 1980s. Before that, his television career kicked off in Seattle with stand-up comedy gigs intermixed with his day job working as a Boeing engineer. He wrote for KING 5’s and one day when the show needed to fill a few minutes, Bill Nye the Science Guy was created.
