A man arrested last Friday for shooting into an ABC news station in Sacramento, California may have been motivated by the suspension of late night host Jimmy Kimmel, according to prosecutors, but it's his note that was the most revealing.

Although the station was occupied at the time, no one was injured in the incident which, The Guardian reports, may have had a political motive.

Sacramento county district attorney Thien Ho said he had circumstantial evidence that the shooter, 64 year-old Anibal Hernandez Santana, “chose a very particular target, and with … notes that he left behind” along with Kimmel’s temporary suspension, “there’s circumstantial evidence there to show that this was a politically motivated crime by this individual”.

Hernandez wrote a note mentioning late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and said that high-level officials of President Donald Trump's administration were “next," according to a federal complaint filed Monday by the US attorney’s office in Sacramento.

“For hiding Epstein & ignoring red flags. Do not support Patel, Bongino, & AG Pam Bondi. They’re next. – C.K. from above,” read the note.

Prosecutors also noted that Hernandez wrote a handwritten note on his daily planner the day of the shooting that read: “Do the Next Scary Thing.”

On Monday, Hernandez, described as a former political lobbyist, was charged with possessing a firearm within a school zone, discharging a firearm within a school zone and interfering with a radio communication station. His lawyer says he will plead not guilty in both state and federal charges against him. A detention hearing was slated for Thursday.
