Oxford County’s warden has confirmed last week’s “technical incident” related to the county’s information system was a cybersecurity incident.

Marcus Ryan released a statement Monday afternoon, a week after an initial news release disclosed the “technical incident” without going into the specifics.

“Last week, we shared that Oxford County was responding to a technical incident relating to its information system,” the Monday afternoon release stated. “We shared this update ahead of full information to be as open as possible, as early as possible, with residents and partners.”
