The owners of a home where a swastika was mowed into the front lawn earlier this month are facing charges of criminal harassment and inciting hate, provincial police say.
Neighbours on Centennial Avenue in Central Elgin, on the eastern-most edge of St. Thomas, say the large Nazi symbol was cut into the lawn around Sept. 11. The symbol took up the entire length and width of the brick bungalow's lawn.
The swastika was removed earlier this week , neighbours told CBC News, days after Ontario Provincial Police officers were were called to the home on Sept. 12 to investigate a "neighbour dispute."
As a result, they searched the home and charged Timothy Van Sickle, 37, and Julia Majkutewicz, 40, with:
