WETHERSFIELD, Conn. — While responding to a call in Wethersfield on Monday, police found a woman who a North Carolina sheriff's office said was wanted in a homicide investigation.

Wethersfield police took Rajasaffiyya Drain, 28, into custody as a fugitive of justice on Monday evening, while responding to a domestic-related incident.

An indictment by a grand jury on Monday charged Rajasaffiyya with murder and felony child abuse.

WVEC reports that the arrest is linked to the death of 2-year-old Jamie Drain, who died on December 2, 2024. Officials in Bertie County later ruled her death a homicide. An autopsy revealed Jamie died from severe blunt force trauma, with injuries that included fractures to her skull, jaw, chest cavity, and collarbone.
