Oktoberfest, an event hosted by the Orangeburgh Genealogical Society, is a fun and interesting way to learn more about local genealogy and history.
It will take place on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Orangeburg Centre. That's located at 650 Summers Avenue in Orangeburg.
The event is free and open to the public.
Oktoberfest-goers will enjoy presentations about the following topics:
■ The updated Orangeburgh Genealogical Society's website
■ Orangeburgh District's earliest church—Reformed and Presbyterian
■ Searching digitized newspapers online and how they aid in genealogical, historical research
■ The Pendarvis family: The Path to Orangeburgh
■ Using archival and unpublished resources in researc
