Fairbanks area forestry plans to conduct a controlled burn of logging slash piles on Nenana Ridge Road, weather permitting, on Tuesday.

This is to let people know it is a planned burn and not a resurgence of wildfire in the area, particularly the Nenana Ridge Complex fire. Residents and visitors, including drivers on the Parks Highway, may see visible smoke from the planned burning.

The controlled burn is happening in a previously harvested timber sale area on Nenana ridge. Firefighters and fire engines will be on site to ensure the fire remains within designated boundaries. The main impact may be the potential of visible smoke.
