B.C. Conservative Leader John Rustad kicked Surrey—Cloverdale MLA Elenore Sturko out of the party on Monday afternoon, reportedly accusing her of organizing against him.
"To be honest, I'm pretty shaken up about it — still very upsetting, obviously," Sturko told reporters on Monday (Sept. 22) after hearing the news.
Sturko spoke to reporters just before a scheduled caucus meeting, arranged to discuss Rustad's leadership.
Rustad just survived a leadership review on Monday, gaining 70.66 per cent of party members' votes. The riding-by-riding vote was beset by controversy after fake membership signups were found in several ridings, most in the Kelowna area.
Sturko said this raises issues about the legitimacy of the results. She intended to bring this up at the Monday night caucus meet
