A traffic crash on I-96 in Novi claimed the lives of two people early Tuesday morning, as reported by WXYZ Channel 7 .

According to WXYZ , Novi police said both vehicles caught fire after the crash, which happened at around 2 a.m. on a stretch of the freeway near Beck Road, and both drivers were killed. Investigators said one of the vehicles had stopped on the roadway because of issues with the vehicle and another driver crashed into it, WXYZ reported.

Traffic was rerouted and the stretch of freeway was shut down for several hours after the crash, but by 9:30 a.m. the freeway was reopened and traffic appeared to be flowing as usual.

The Oakland Press has reached out to the Novi Police Department for information on the crash and victims.
