Invista’s Maitland plant, one of the area’s more significant employers, will close its doors in the coming months.

In an announcement on Tuesday, the facility’s owner, Koch Industries, said it is set to close the Invista plant and discontinue production, laying off about 100 workers.

“We want to recognize and thank the Maitland employees, contractors, and others who have contributed to Invista’s success over the years,” said Brook Vickery, Invista president and CEO, in a prepared statement. “This decision is not a reflection of their efforts, but rather a reality of today’s market environment.”

According to Koch Industries, Invista will be relocating Dytek A production to its Victoria, Texas site.

All affected employees at the Maitland site will be eligible for severance benefits.
