Thousands were in town for the Workday Rising conference, while residents and out-of-towners alike shined their disco pants for the fourth annual Portola Music Festival over the weekend. But one event was truly unmissable: the Laver Cup.
The annual men’s tennis tournament, pitting Europe’s top stars against the rest of the world, made its West Coast debut at Chase Center to much ado over the weekend. Laver Cup banners seemed to hang on every street, advertisements for the tournament greeted passengers at San Francisco International Airport and Mercedes-Benzes branded with the tournament’s logo ferried players and VIPs from one photoshoot to the next.
