One person was taken to a hospital after colliding with a utility pole during a crash in Newtown on Tuesday, leading to a road closure after the pole and wires came down in the street.
The collision was reported around 6:50 a.m. in the area of Route 34 and Old Mill Road where officers responded to investigate a single-vehicle crash, according to Lt. Scott P. Smith of the Newtown Police Department .
Members of the Sandy Hook Fire Department and Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps also responded. According to police, the driver suffered minor injuries and was taken in an ambulance to Danbury Hospital.
The collision left Route 34 — which is also known as Berkshire Road — closed between Zoar Road and High Rock Road as utility crews worked to clear the scene of the pole and wires that came d
