LUFKIN, Texas (KETK)-- Lufkin ISD confirmed Tuesday morning that an unloaded gun was brought into their middle school on Sept. 12, making it the second gun-related incident that happened at their district that week.
The district released a statement that said near the end of the school day on Monday, a report was made to Lufkin Middle School officials that an unloaded firearm was on campus, Sept. 12. After school officials and local law enforcement investigated, they were able to confirm that the unloaded firearm was on the campus, witnessed by more than one student.
