(WTAJ) — Five neighboring municipalities are joining forces to address problems that don’t stop at borough or township borders.

Brownstown, Southmont and Westmont boroughs, along with Upper Yoder and Lower Yoder townships, are developing a West Hills Regional Comprehensive Plan to coordinate efforts across the 30-square-mile region of about 15,000 residents.

According to our media partners at The Tribune-Democrat, the 18-month project will cover shared services, recreation, economic development, cooperative purchasing programs and stormwater management. The plan is being crafted with support from the Cambria County Planning Commission and consulting firm the Stuart Group.
