Armed police and emergency services at Sadlers Wells Court in East Kilbride

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a woman was rushed to hospital.

Cops swarmed a high-rise flat at Sadlers Wells Court in Calderwood, East Kilbride, after the alarm was raised at around 8.05am yesterday morning.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court today, Tuesday, September 23, Kevin Costello was charged with abduction, assault to severe injury, danger of life and attempted murder.

The 45-year-old made no plea and was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

He will appear before the court again within the next eight days.

A 35-year-old woman was taken to Hairmyres Hospital in an ambulance following the incident but her condition currently remains unknown.
