Jackson Police Department officials said one person died after an alleged dispute ended in a shooting on Beechcrest Drive in Jackson.

Interim Jackson Police Chief Tyree Jones said the shooting occurred Monday evening, Sept. 22, in the 300 block of Beechcrest Drive.

According to Jones, an unidentified victim was shot at least once and died.

Jones also said a male suspect was detained away from the scene for questioning.

JPD Public Information Officer Tommie Brown later identified to the Clarion Ledger that the victim was Brian Drake, 43, and the suspect was Morris Walker, 43.

Walker faces a murder charge in connection to this case.
