Rookie first-round pick Jaxson Dart reportedly is taking over as starting quarterback, with veteran Russell Wilson benched effective immediately, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Tuesday .

Dart's debut will come on Sunday against Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4. The Giants, at 0-3, head into the home matchup against the undefeated Chargers needing a spark that Wilson wasn't providing.

The former Super Bowl MVP was handed the starting job after signing a one-year, $10.5 million contract with the Giants in March. The team also added Jameis Winston as another quarterback option before trading up to draft Dart at No. 25 overall a month later.
