GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is seeking public comments on a pair of proposals for Beaver Island, including one that would expand deer hunting season.
The deer hunting proposal is meant to help simplify the island’s hunting regulations and get the island’s deer population under control.
The DNR is proposing to expand antlerless-only hunting season for an additional 20 days and add early and late antlerless firearm seasons in 2026, 2027 and 2028.
