POLK COUNTY, Mo. — A large seven-hour-long hay fire was extinguished after several local fire departments responded.

According to the Central Polk County Fire Protection District (CPCFPD), on Sept. 22, firefighters found a fire next to a building with approximately 175 to 200 round bales of hay on fire and another 100 in danger.

CPCFPD said the operation required 40,000 gallons of water and approximately seven hours on the scene.

The joint operation included CPCFPD, Dunnegan Rural Fire Department, Bolivar City Fire Department, Morrisville Fire Protection District, Polk County Emergency Management, Polk County Central Dispatch and the Missouri Department of Conservation.
