A new playground is coming to Maynard Park in Saanich.

The municipality has been working on the playground since its engagement session in spring 2024 in order to replace the original play equipment, installed in 2003.

The new playground design includes an innovative and compact play structure for ages five to 12, with a number of modern and accessible features. Sustainable features include a natural play area to encourage kids to interact with biodiversity in the sensory gardens, and tree planting to increase existing shade protection.

The official opening is set for Sept. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. at 2563 Maynard Street.
