A quarter of road safety cameras in Scotland are no longer in use, with most found in Glasgow , Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders.

Throughout the country, the number of speed cameras in use has dropped despite a rising death toll on the roads, according to figures from Police Scotland revealed by the Daily Record .

Speed cameras on Glasgow's Duke Street , Gorgie Road in Edinburgh and the A1 are just some of the cameras no longer in use with a Freedom of Information from Police Scotland showing 120 cameras are currently non-operational, a drop of almost 25 per cent.

Though still in place, the 120 cameras instead have a "Not In Use" cover over them. The ones that have been taken out of service are mainly for speed detection (86), but also include cameras used to catch motorists who
