The town of Torbay is the latest municipality in the province to encounter extremely low water levels at its main water source.
The town is advising residents of “critically low water levels” on North Pond, requiring immediate action to prevent the water from being completely depleted.
Pictures from the North Pond area show the water well below normal levels.
Although a State of Emergency has not yet been declared, the town is not ruling it out in order to address the issue.
In the meantime, a mandatory ban on the non-essential use of water is in place until further notice. That means residents of Torbay cannot wash vehicles, water lawns or gardens, fill swimming pools or use water for any other purpose that is not essential.
