There will be no more heavy trucks on Thirty and Mountainview roads in Lincoln.

Town council this month passed a bylaw prohibiting trucks with a gross weight of more than 15,000 kilograms from using those two roads.

Signs have gone up and Niagara Regional Police have begun enforcing the new bylaw.

“They are escarpment crossings (and there’s) a high level of safety sensitivity going up the escarpment’s winding roads,” said David Graham, Lincoln’s director of public works.

He said residents along Thirty and Mountainview, and police, have expressed concern about heavy truck traffic on those roads.

Graham said it has been estimated an average of 55 heavy trucks have been using Thirty Road daily.

“It sees more traffic than Mountainview.”
