Waterloo Regional Police said a “threatening” voicemail prompted Monday’s hold-and-secure at Cambridge city hall.
Police received a call just after noon from city hall security to report a voicemail from a resident who is known to city staff.
Alana Russell, the city’s director of communications, said senior staff spoke to police Chief Mark Crowell at about 12:30 p.m. Security informed police they were putting the building into a hold-and-secure; however, Const. Brad Hickey, a police public information officer, said via email police were not involved in any direction in placing the hold-and-secure.
