A clean and reliable gas station can be a godsend for weary drivers who've spent several hours on the road.

But not every city or town in America has a Buc-ee's or a big chain gas station at every intersection.

Some villages still rely on family owned spots that sell fuel, groceries, hot food and more. These spots become a beloved necessity instead of a place to fill up and get a Coke.

And now, three family-owned gas stations in Louisiana are getting national acclaim in a new ranking.

American River Wellness surveyed over 3,000 drivers to learn about their favorite family-owned gas stations in the U.S. and created a ranking of the top 126 pit stops .
