Something new will help launch the Sarnia Concert Association’s 90th season.

The volunteer-run group began hosting concerts of mostly classical music in the mid-1930s and the recently formed Canadian Chamber Orchestra will lead off its new season of five concerts with a performance Oct. 8. at the Imperial Theatre in Sarnia.

Founded in 2023 by cellists and co-artistic directors Andrew Ascenzo and Drew Comstock, the Toronto-based 14-piece ensemble includes members of Canada’s top orchestras and chamber ensembles.

“They’re playing Mozart, Debussy, Tchaikovsky in a really varied program,” said David Nichols, with the concert association.

It’s the first time the ensemble has performed in Sarnia for the association, he said.
