SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- The Syracuse Fire Department said one of its most important facilities is crumbling.

The floor of their maintenance garage on State Fair Boulevard, where fire trucks get repaired, has been deemed unsafe.

The facility has been around for nearly 60 years. But now the building's foundation is literally cracking beneath it.

"We identified a crack in the floor through a facilities assessment in 2024; that report came out in September of 2024. During that time, more thorough assessments were being done by engineering," said Syracuse Fire Department Chief Michael Monds.

But by July of 2025, the floor was deemed unsafe.
