You will be hearing a lot in the coming few days and weeks about how taking Tylenol (acetaminophen) during pregnancy increases the risk of autism and perhaps also attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This afternoon, President Donald Trump, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and other top Trump administration officials held a press conference to announce that the FDA is issuing a physicians notice about the risk of taking acetaminophen during pregnancy and would start the process that will add a warning to the label of over-the-counter fever and pain reliever.

Kennedy, acknowledging the lack of alternatives to acetaminophen, said during that press conference that federal health officials want clinicians "to exercise their best judgment and use acetaminophen for fevers and pain
