PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A historic Portland “eyesore” is up for yet another auction.

SVN Imbrie Realty is slated to auction off Gordon’s Fireplace Shop next month. The Tigard-based agency is seeking a starting bid of $225,000 for the property located at Northeast 33rd Avenue and Northeast Broadway.

Portland City Council unanimously voted to foreclose on the 27,000-square-foot building, and several other “nuisance” properties, in June 2024. This came after Portland Fire & Rescue determined the site was one of many that would be unsafe for crews in the event of a fire.

According to SVN Imbrie Realty, the building was first constructed in 1918. Gordon’s Fireplace Shop was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2021, but KOIN 6 previously reported that it had been vacant since
