A former student at Pacific Link College claims she was forced by the school to campaign for Conservative candidate Tamara Jansen in a 2024 byelection in the riding of Cloverdale-Langley City.
Yanisa Kapetch, a student from Thailand, and one other anonymous student, say they were told by their school to volunteer for Jansen in December 2024, in the lead up to a byelection – one in which Jansen won by a landslide.
"We felt it didn't relate to our studies, and we didn't know why we had to do this for them. And also, we didn't know who Tamara was," Kapetch, 25, told CBC News. “If we didn't attend the activities, we would be marked as absent and it would affect our attendance, and we might not pass our course.”
