A cold front will push into the Carolinas beginning Thursday morning, first bringing showers to the mountains. By Thursday afternoon, storms will become better organized over the mountains.

For the Piedmont and Charlotte metro, expect loosely scattered storms Thursday evening through Friday morning. • Heavy rain & gusty winds will be possible in spots. • Rain totals will generally be on the lighter side, but some areas could still pick up 1–2 inches of rainfall. • While this won’t be a widespread soaker, it is a much-needed rain event.
