A former employee of a Riverside towing service critically wounded a woman at that business before shooting himself to death on Tuesday morning, Sept. 23, Riverside police said.
The victim was undergoing surgery, said Officer Ryan Railsback, a police spokesman.
The shooting was reported at 8:10 a.m. at Pepe’s Towing Service at 6158 Columbus Ave.
The man, who had recently separated from the company, arrived and started shooting outside the business, Railsback said. It was not known whether the woman was targeted.
The man also shot at others outside the business, but no one else was hit, Railsback said.
The motive was unclear.
He then killed himself nearby, Railsback said.
The identities of the victim and the shooter have not been publicly announced.
