Week 5 was a strong week for Coachella Valley high school football teams. Ten of the 14 teams that played won, and Shadow Hills lost by just a point in double overtime.

Factor in that the top five teams from last week's rankings all won and that previously winless Indio also won, as did Desert Hot Springs and Twentynine Palms and Desert Mirage to ignite win streaks for the last two, and it was the best week of the season so far for local schools.
