Ford has issued a safety recall for over 100,000 vehicles because of issues with exterior body trim detaching while driving.
Approximately 101,940 vehicles are affected by the recall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration .
Documents filed with the highway safety agency stated that the recall was caused by driver and passenger side door trim pieces that may loosen over time and detach while driving.
This could cause a hazard to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash, according to the recall documents.
The recall affects 2016 through 2019 model years of the Ford Taurus sedan.
The company warned that Taurus owners might notice pieces of trim separating from the top of the front doors. Loose pieces of trim might also make a rattling noise while the car
