POULSBO -- A skater tumbles off his board to the ground of the skatepark at Raab Park, sliding before bouncing up and quietly rolling off. Moments later the teenage boy launches down the ramp again, this time landing a rail grind, releasing a torrent of supportive cries and skateboards banging on the park's wooden ramps.
Similar scenes played out over the weekend as residents celebrated construction of a new and improved community skatepark. The event brought together parents, volunteers, park officials and leaders of community organizations alongside new and long-time skaters during the park's official reopening, after closing last year in 2024.
