FORT PIERCE, Fla. — As guilty verdicts were being read Tuesday for five separate counts in the trial of Trump would-be assassin Ryan Routh, U.S. Marshals had to step in and restrain the man after he grabbed a pen and tried to stab himself in the neck with it.

Routh did not appear to have injured himself in the attempt.

It was just hours after closing arguments that a jury returned a verdict in the case, finding him guilty of trying to assassinate then-presidential candidate Donald Trump in September 2024.
