Aston Villa have confirmed that Monchi has stepped down from his position as the club’s President of Football Operations but will continue as an advisor to V Sports.

Roberto Olabe has replaced the 57-year-old with immediate effect, while Damian Vidagany will remain in his role as Director of Football Operations.

Monchi held the position for just over two years and is now succeeded by Olabe, who left Real Sociedad earlier this year, where he served as their Sporting Director.

Olabe previously worked with Unai Emery at Almería more than 18 years ago and also made his professional debut for Real Sociedad alongside the current Villa manager.
