HARTFORD, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - Hartford officials said Tuesday that eight fire departments had responded after an apartment building caught fire. One firefighter suffered a minor injury, but several animals were reported dead.
According to the Hartford Fire Department, the fire was reported at a building on Barnes Avenue at some time before 11:00 a.m. Every person living in the apartments was accounted for, but two dogs, as well as several reptiles, were reported dead, though authorities said some reptiles did survive the fire.
Authorities say that the cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but it will be investigated by the fire marshal on Wednesday. The building is described as being uninhabitable for the time being due to fire and water damage.
