FOLSOM, Calif. —

The city of Folsom is set to discuss a multi-million-dollar budget shortfall and possible cost-saving measures at a meeting Tuesday night.

City leaders say Folsom is facing rising costs and flat revenues, which have resulted in a general fund deficit of $3 million for the 2025-26 fiscal year.

In a staff report issued in advance of the Sept. 23 meeting, the city manager's office explained that dealing with the city's finances is much like managing a household budget. When people face a decline in income after job changes or unexpected expenses, they have to make difficult but necessary decisions to reduce spending.
