CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — With hundreds of workers losing jobs due to the SCI Rockview and Quehanna Boot Camp closures, Centre County is preparing to help.
Since the initial proposal in February, the Department of Corrections has maintained that every staff member impacted will be guaranteed a job at their current pay and classification within 67 miles. Though that has done little to reassure staff and officials alike.
"Concerns for the 850 employees and their families, some of whom probably would need to transfer but don't necessarily want to do that," Mark Higgins, chair of the county commissioners, said.
