A shift at work changed everything for Lewiston, N.Y., rocker Nina DiGregorio.

While attending university, she was working as a waitress at the Hard Rock Café in Niagara Falls, N.Y., when inspiration hit.

“I remember a very distinct moment sitting in the Beatles memorabilia room, looking at all of the stuff on the walls and saying, ‘I’ve got to go out West and try to make things happen,’” she recalled.

“‘Someday I want my violin on that wall.’ Instead of bringing people hamburgers, I wanted to give things a try.”

Wait a sec … violin? Yes, just because DiGregorio is a classically trained violinist doesn’t mean she can’t rock. Though it seemed like a long shot at the time.
