A California man allegedly took the law into his own hands when he found a man on the sex offender registry, went to his home posing as an accountant and murdered him.

The Fremont Police Department said in a press release that its officers received a 911 call shortly before noon on Thursday about a "violent altercation" between two people, one of whom was "gravely injured," in the 600 block of Upper Vinters Circle. Cops rushed to the scene to find a 71-year-old man on the ground suffering from "significant stab wounds." The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
