ATLANTA, Ga. (WSAV) — The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) confirmed three new measles cases in Georgia, all of whom were close contacts with a Sept. 11 confirmed measles case.

The DPH said that two of the new cases are unvaccinated. The third case's vaccination status is unknown.

There are 268 close contacts of the confirmed case that have been identified, seven of which are enrolled in active monitoring.

Georgia now has 10 confirmed measles cases in 2025, an increase from six in 2024.

The DPH said, "The best protection against measles is vaccination. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that children receive their first dose of vaccine between 12 and 15 months of age and a second dose between 4 and 6 years of age. Consult with your doctor or health
