LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A family-owned French pharmaceutical corporation celebrated the opening of its new manufacturing plant in Lufkin on Tuesday.

Gattefosse’s Lufkin plant is their first North American manufacturing plant. The site will produce lipid-based specialty ingredients for the personal care and pharmaceutical industries.

The company has provided 20 jobs on site, and has enough property for future expansion.

Lufkin was chosen as the plant’s site because of its Foreign Trade Zone designation and its proximity to Houston, Dallas and Shreveport, Lufkin officials have said.
