KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A junior varsity football player in Michigan suffered a broken spine in two places after an opponent — more than twice his size — leapt onto him well after a play had ended.

The 15-year-old Lakeshore High School player was being blocked by a much larger Kalamazoo Central lineman when, after being taken to the ground, his opponent executed a WWE-style body slam on him for seemingly no reason.

The injured player’s mother, Courtney Mims, told local news that fortunatley her son is now out of the hospital and recovering at home.

“And I at first was like, is that my son? And as soon as it clicked that it was, I couldn’t be stopped. I had to go down there. It was I’ve never felt anything like it. I’ve never been as upset or shaken up as I was over something for my son,” M
