Crash investigators with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol have revealed an explanation for why a Minco school bus carrying members of the softball team left the roadway after hitting a deer on Sept. 8 .
According to the investigators' findings released on Sept. 23, the deer pinned the left-front tire of the bus, which caused the bus to turn left and leave the roadway.
The findings put to rest questions about whether the driver tried to avoid the deer by swerving out of the way, which is considered a dangerous maneuver.
The team was on its way back from an away game when it crashed on State Highway 152 just a few miles from home.
