GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A standoff in Washington, over funding the federal government past October 1, is now colliding with efforts by Democrats to force Republicans into extending tax subsidies tied to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), meant to offset the high cost of premiums.

As many as 300,000 Wisconsinites could see their premiums rise, without those tax subsidies, by an average of 34.5%.

On Tuesday in Green Bay, Senator Tammy Baldwin addressed the issue.

These tax subsidies, passed by Congress during the COVID pandemic, are set to expire at the end of the year, if they’re not extended.
