As bad as this season has been for Andre Pallante, his finish has been a bit of a brighter spot.

Pallante and the Cardinals continue a three-game series at San Francisco on Tuesday night at 8:45 p.m. (St. Louis time).

The Cardinals won Monday's opener 6-5 behind another strong game from Jose Fermin.

Tuesday's starter, the right-hander Pallante (6-15, 5.29 ERA), has over his last four starts looked less like a liability and more like a decent back-end rotation piece.

He has a 4.29 ERA in that time, which is nearly a full run better than teammate Sonny Gray. For Pallante, baseball's second-worst qualified starter by Fangraphs wins above replacement value, any improvement, even a minor one, is a positive.
